The last few weeks have been a crazy time for all of us.
Even though few believed it possible, Donald J. Trump was elected President of the USA.
Even though he lost the popular vote.
Even though there were allegations of election rigging and hacking by a foreign nation.
And hasn't his first week in office been eventful?
Here is a video produced by the Australian journalist Waleed Aly summarising everything he's done so far:
This month I finally bit the bullet and signed up for the Wet Shave Club.
I've wanted to try shaving with an old school safety razor for years. They're better for your skin, they cost less than buying cartridges in the long run, they need a little skill to use properly, and basically I think they're just kinda badass!! You can literally feel you testosterone levels rising while you use a safety razor...true story.
Wet Shave Club is a monthly subscription box service that sends you natural shaving supplies each month plus new blades. The first box also included a safety razor and badger hair shave brush.
I used it for the first time yesterday, and I was seriously impressed. I was a little bit worried about doing some damage to my face since I've never used one of these razors before, so I warned my wife before hand that she may hear some screaming coming from the bathroom and she shouldn't worry. But I might need her to be ready to call an ambulance in case of severe blood loss...
As I said there is a bit of skill needed to shave properly with one of these things, as well as some extra prep time compared with using a disposable to cartridge razor:
I managed to get through my first shave with no cuts, nicks or razor burn. It's safe to say that I am now a convert, no more disposables for me unless I'm in a huge rush to get to work or something. But since I only really need to shave every 3-4 days, I don't foresee that as being much of a problem. Being baby-faced has it's advantages sometimes.
If you've never tried Wet Shaving before I highly recommend it. A razor isn't expensive these days, and you can order everything you need online. The Wet Shave Club subscription box is a super easy and convenient way to get into it, and don't worry, you can cancel your subscription any time if it gets too costly.

I just found this while surfing Kickstarter.
It's a tear away calendar that counts down the days until Trumplethinskin is out of office.
I've just backed it, and I'm not even from America. Check it out here.
During one of my aimless web surfing sessions, I came across something called the Peking to Paris Rally.
It's an organised endurance rally for Vintage (Pre-1941) and Classic (Pre-1971) car. The route takes the drivers and their cars from...you guessed it...Peking, China to Paris France.
Check out the video below to find out more about the last rally, which was in 2016. And if you want to find out more about the organisation that organises the rally, and the other events the run, Click Here.
I need to do this one day!! Who want's to come with?
I just got back from 4 days away in Toulouse at the ATR training center. The trip was to complete an OPC, which stands for Operator Proficiency Check (I think). We do OPC's twice a year and LPC's twice a year, and each takes 2 days in the simulator to do.
The weekend went really well. I flew with a new FO I hadn't met before, and he was very good at his job. The training portion of the simulator was VERY informative and useful, I really enjoyed that part.
There were no real hassles this weekend apart from waking up on Monday to a text message from KLM saying that our flight home had been cancelled...uh oh!! There was very thick fog in Amsterdam, which is where we were connecting through, and lots of airlines had cancellations. Luckily we got put onto a Lufthansa flight via Munich, and actually got home earlier than planned. SO I got to see my boys before they went to bed, which was nice.
I have another week off now before I get back to flying. February is going to be quite busy, but thats good, I've had it pretty easy lately!
My name is Ryan, and this is my blog.
