There are some excellent posts on waitbutwhy.com covering topics from time, life, Elon Musk....and Donald Trump.
I came across this post the other day, and it's had an effect on me.
I think it really helps to put things in perspective.

Then sit back and think for a minute...what do you REALLY want to be spending your time doing? What do you want each of those little boxes to signify?
The last few weeks have been a crazy time for all of us.
Even though few believed it possible, Donald J. Trump was elected President of the USA.
Even though he lost the popular vote.
Even though there were allegations of election rigging and hacking by a foreign nation.
And hasn't his first week in office been eventful?
Here is a video produced by the Australian journalist Waleed Aly summarising everything he's done so far:
This month I finally bit the bullet and signed up for the Wet Shave Club.
I've wanted to try shaving with an old school safety razor for years. They're better for your skin, they cost less than buying cartridges in the long run, they need a little skill to use properly, and basically I think they're just kinda badass!! You can literally feel you testosterone levels rising while you use a safety razor...true story.
Wet Shave Club is a monthly subscription box service that sends you natural shaving supplies each month plus new blades. The first box also included a safety razor and badger hair shave brush.
I used it for the first time yesterday, and I was seriously impressed. I was a little bit worried about doing some damage to my face since I've never used one of these razors before, so I warned my wife before hand that she may hear some screaming coming from the bathroom and she shouldn't worry. But I might need her to be ready to call an ambulance in case of severe blood loss...
As I said there is a bit of skill needed to shave properly with one of these things, as well as some extra prep time compared with using a disposable to cartridge razor:
I managed to get through my first shave with no cuts, nicks or razor burn. It's safe to say that I am now a convert, no more disposables for me unless I'm in a huge rush to get to work or something. But since I only really need to shave every 3-4 days, I don't foresee that as being much of a problem. Being baby-faced has it's advantages sometimes.
If you've never tried Wet Shaving before I highly recommend it. A razor isn't expensive these days, and you can order everything you need online. The Wet Shave Club subscription box is a super easy and convenient way to get into it, and don't worry, you can cancel your subscription any time if it gets too costly.

First of all, an update on how I did with last month's goals:
3. Cut back on my coffee consumption - a big fat resounding NO on this one. I managed to cut back to 2 cups of coffee a day...for 2 days. I am way more addicted to caffeine than I first realised!
Ok, so for October, my goals are as follows:
Well, my next post was supposed to be this big recap of all the training I've been doing for my Command upgrade, in Exeter and in SIngapore. I was also going to post some photos of Henry's 4th birthday party.
Unfortunately, when I sat down to write a couple of draft posts the other day, I accidentally knocked over a full mug of hot coffee ALL over my MacBook.....there aren't enough expletives...
So for the time being I'm going mobile and just using my iPad and nifty Bluetooth keyboard while my MacBook is hopefully drying out. I really hope it's not dead...Macboooks are EXPENSIVE!!
I had a whole bunch of cool photos and videos to share too, but they're all either stuck in my camera - I don't have and SD to iPad adapted (do they even exist?) - or they're in the Amazon Cloud and I don't have enough space on my iPad to download them.
So yeah, that's what's happening this week.
While I wait to determine the fate of my poor laptop, here's a photo I can access...this is Pepsi, our new rescue cat.
Pepsi is awesome.
Though he does make it kinda hard to read before bed...
My name is Ryan, and this is my blog.
